I've been using almost the same build (with a few varations) for my ele (mostly fire nuker) for as long as I've had him.  I was wondering if the rest of you who have Eles, had any suggestions on a new one?  I'd like to build more around earth maybe a mix with air.  Just wondering what ya'll are using.

Meh I don't like Air Magic... I don't think 25% armor penetration is enough, especially since Obsidian Flame and Teinai's Crystals ignore armor completely.
But anyway, my Geomancer has Obsidian Flame, Teinai's Crystals, Dragon's Stomp, and Armor of Earth. Pretty basic stuff; I like using spells that cause exhaustion because those really take advantage of the elemental's large energy pool; also I prefer Armor of Earth over Silver Armor because I don't like probabilities and the effect is longer so I can rely on it no matter what happens. I also have Ether Feast for some energy stealing. When I look at my 5 Energy spells and then see Stone Daggers, I'm just not impressed; my Wand can do 1/3 of that damage for 0 Energy and I'm good with that. My last 3 skills are the two elem glyphs and a rez/cap.

I find that channeling magic (with a ritualist) is about as effective as air magic. There is no armor penetration, but there are other buffs that make up for it. Plus, Ancestor's Rage is way cooler than any Air Magic skill. Of course, I had a level 20 elementalist a year ago, but deleted it, so I'm sure my perceptions are skewed.

I swich up builds with my ele all the time.  It all depends on the type of creatures I am fighting and the region.  I switch between fire, water and air.  I don't use earth.  I'll use fire or air build on water based creatures.  I use water or air on fire based creatures depending on the effect I want to use on them.  Some skills work every well when mixed and you deal even more damage.  Don't be afraid to experiement.  When I do builds I go to a website that actually has a listing of the skills and what they do.  I read through them and try to measure there effect and then I take my build from there.  It's helped me a lot.  http://www.guild-hall.net/elem.php

Water builds are a lot of fun. I love the Deep freeze - Maelstrom combo <-match made in heaven.

With the high energy cost, you will need Glyph of lesser energy and/or Glyph of energy (elite).

Cant remember the exact build (Im at work) but if anyone wants it, I can post it later Cheesy
